“What is it about a girl with a book that deeply frightens a man with a gun?”

Pathways Program
In the aftermath of the Taliban's takeover in Afghanistan, a dark cloud descended upon girls and women, with education becoming a distant dream. Yet, from the midst of adversity, HFA, as a 501(c)(3) organization, emerged as a beacon of hope, determined to challenge gender apartheid and provide a pathway to education.
Fueled by unwavering commitment and fortified by little to no outside resources, we undertook the monumental task of offering educational opportunities to girls and young women who were denied their basic right to learn. Within a short period of time, we achieved remarkable results.

Partnering with distinguished U.S.-based educational institutions and entities, we ignited a spark of change. For instance, in collaboration with the University of Southern California Viterbi School of Engineering, its iPodia program and its Information Technology Program, we orchestrated a groundbreaking initiative that transcended borders: empowering over 200 girls to complete virtual courses in Web Development, coding, leadership, science and innovation since the Fall of 2022.

As the ripples of change spread, we stand on the threshold of an even more impactful journey. HFA is actively expanding its network of partners, envisioning a future where hundreds more young women and girls are embraced by the transformative power of education. Our Pathways program isn't just about academics; it's about resilience, empowerment, and lighting the way forward, even in the face of the darkest of challenges.
